LATN 22: Accelerated Introductory Latin

The Pomona Advantage

This course introduces Latin grammar (through Wheelock’s Latin, 7th edition) through the “flipped classroom” technique. This technique involves video lectures with integrated drills, followed by work sessions (either synchronous or asynchronous). Typically there are three video lectures and three study sessions per week, followed by a review session. Formal assessment takes the form of twelve weekly exams (to be taken over the weekend) and a final exam.

Latin at Pomona is….

Quicker to learn (one semester of grammar instead of two)

Flexible (synchronous or asynchronous)

Built for you (responsive instructor)

Fun (the Pomona Classics Department is the funnest Department in all of Claremont! It has been scientifically proven!)
